    Daytona Purchases

Daytona was awesome as always. It was crowded but not a mob scene(except a couple choke points, which made it difficult to get through). Nice wide aisles to walk in this year, which probably means there's even fewer venders, but it's still a nice big show!

Some things that I did notice, a lot of the 'old guard' seem to be missing. No Ballroompythonssouth, etc. I was wondering if all the "big guys" have pulled out completely.

While there were still a LOT of ball pythons, I did see a lot of other things. Not as much in the way of boas, not as many geckos nor things like black-headed pythons. But there were some of everything there, even retics and burms, although those are still restricted in Florida.

I would still love to see venders put some prices on things, because if I see snakes I might like, I end up having to wait while the vender is having a chat with other buyers, lookers, his buds, his phone... and then when I ask the price, I might just have to go "Oh, thank you" and not be interested which seems kind of rude. But this is a personal pet peeve, honestly. If a vender doesn't want to label prices on things, that's up to him/her, of course.

I broke my rules about attending the expo. I always say "Never buy anything until you've walked the whole room!" and also "No buying pets! Only buy animals for the breeding programs!"

And what did I do? I bought a desert spider female ball python right away as a pet. I bought a PET. Sigh. But I couldn't help myself! She's SO adorable and her little face looks like a cartoon baby snake!!!

This shows her super light color better than that cute pic.

I was pleased to see a breeder who was selling the desert females as pets, as I would suspect there's no much of a market. I'll be happy to give her a pet home and watch her grow and be gorgeous and useless. I have to think of a proper name for her.

And I also(almost like karma rewarded me for giving the cutey a home) found a great deal for not one, but TWO lesser girls.

Half-grown lesser female, not named yet.

Great big BREEDER lesser girl, also not named yet.

I went to the show thinking I would try to find a lesser female. I was thinking I might be able to find a hatchling I could afford and I ended up with two, one that will breed this season and the other should be ready by next season I think. And, really GOOD prices.

Of course, all can not go well for me, so the bigger lesser girl peed in my shoulder bag and soaked not only all three snakes and bags, the shoulder bag, my program, my spiral notebook, my battery charger for my phone AND my glasses in their hard case. Sigh. At least the glasses themselves were easy to wash.

I'm headed back tomorrow, and I can buy one more(if I can find a good deal). Not sure what to look for now though. I have mojave, het pied, enchi, pastel, cinnamon, het clown, and normals. Spent most of the funds, but I'm hoping to think of something that won't break my bank, that I can find. Also, trying to stick with females right now.

I saw some HUGE monster breeder pastel females for only $200 too. That should give you an idea on the deals on some of the single morph animals. The prices on combos and new morphs is still high though. So a natural course of events.

I hope to see more folks there tomorrow! If you see me, give a yell! I'm Wolfyhound.
