    Question First shed tips

I'm new to BPs and nervous for the first shed from my little guy that should be coming up sometime soon. The humidity is good in my tank so I'm hoping for no problems but just in case.. Does anyone know some good ways to help a snake through it? I've heard of soaking and putting him a pillow case with a damp towel and some other ones that I might try in the stages right before the actual shed to get him really moisturized, but I'm not what works best and what doesn't, and I'm just paranoid that something could go bad as this is my first snake. Any tips???

I was the same way for my boy's first shed. Don't worry too much. If your humidity is good, he'll be fine. I sometimes put the water dish near the heat source to increase it a bit. Extra things like wet pillowcases shouldn't be necessary. In fact, I've heard snakes can suffocate like that. Just keep an eye on the humidity and leave him to do his thing. Good luck.

    Re: First shed tips

I wouldn't suggest doing anything prior to the shed other than bump your humidity up. Soaking before a shed will probably do more harm than good. I try to keep my snakes at a minimum of 60-65% during shed. Your snake should do the rest. I always pull mine out and look them over good after they shed to make sure there's no stuck shed or eyecaps. If it is a bad shed you can try soaking or the pillow case trick.
    Good luck and don't stress!

Don't soak. Provide good humidity and you BP will do the rest.
