    Defensive 1 year old.....

    Hi,
I have a 1 year old male hypo boa that I've had since he was a few months old. He is very defensive and squirrelly when I handle him. Also he's unpredictable in his behavior, one day he's ok, today he tags me a few times. My question is if this is due to him still being a youngster or is he going to be a boa that needs consistent handling. As a side note, I don't handle any of my snakes on a daily basis, do I need to do this with him to get him past this issue? 2 months ago I handled him every day except the day before and 2 days after feeding, I did this for 3 weeks and I felt like we made progress and then I went 2 weeks without and we were right back to square one. Help!!
    Thanks so much
    Beth

He may be a critter that needs a lot of short and positive interactions until he figures out that people aren't Godzilla-monsters that will eat him up. I'd make a point of having him out at least a few minutes every day, except for feeding day and a few days after so he can digest, and put him back as soon as he's behaving politely.
