    Introducing recessives..

So for those of you who read my other post ( banana spider x lesser bee) you may have a general idea of the type of breeding program I am aiming for in the future.
As of right now I'm just studying genetics and I believe I have a good basic understanding dominant/co dominant genes and how they work and my intention was to stick to lines with those type of genes in the beginning before I begin adding recessive to my lines.
However, I do want to add recessives and as I'm beginning to understand, they are a little more tricky to introduce then the dominant.
I want to eventually add albino and pied to my banana lines I produce. My thinking is that I'll take either a bumblee bee or queen bee offspring from my lesser pastel x mojave spider pair and pair them up with my banana and hopefully get some nice offspring from that pairing as well. I'd like to introduce maybe first albino to the line, see if I can get some albino banana spider offspring and eventually pied, and get some banana spider pied or just pied banana offspring.
From my understanding, the best way to bring out the recessive would be to take the offspring of the pair and line breed back to the pied parent to determine if the offspring does indeed carry the recessive, correct?
Would there then be the possibility of getting banana pied offspring from this initial pairing or would I need to continue to breed the offspring?

Sorry if this is actually a simple answer that im overlooking. I've been playing around with the wob genetic calculator to test all my theories to confirm whether or not this is correct but with this topic is doesn't give a defintive answer.

    Re: Introducing recessives..

Any babies with a pied parent must be at least het pied.

    Banana spider x pied -->
    1/4 normal looking, het pied
    1/4 banana het pied
    1/4 spider het pied
    1/4 banana spider het pied

banana spider het pied x pied -->
    1/8 normal looking, het pied
    1/8 banana het pied
    1/8 spider het pied
    1/8 banana spider het pied
    1/8 pied
    1/8 banana pied
    1/8 spider pied
    1/8 banana spider pied
Fractions are expectations. Your actual results may vary.

The above expectations should be right with a female banana spider or female banana spider het pied. The results may be off with male banana male-makers and female-makers.
