Treating Mites Advice
So one of my BP have mites so i am going to quarantine. It was suggested to me to put her in a different enclosure, a tub, which i have. treat/quarantine her in that tub for a few days and clean the tank. my question is how do you maintain the heat or warmth in the tub?!?! in the room they are in now i have to use their lights to help keep their tanks warm as it is. is it necessary in a tub though since it is smaller?

she'll be quarantined in another room. i was just saying i have to use the lights to keep their tanks warm in the room they are in.

My Vet had me treat everyone and the rooms cleaned Top to bottom you Might as well buy the Gallon save some money .

Also Look in the forum on how to treat mites . I looked at mine as a Battle and I was gonna win. Its labor intensive and I took no chances because its expensive and I felt bad for my babies..

If you're finding mites on the one snake and the others are in the same room, chances are that all of them are infested so all will need to be treated.

For sanity sake when a noobie asks how to treat mites we should not say "PAM"... we should say provent-a-mite http://pro-products.com/provent-a-mite/
I can see someone now going to their kitchen cabinets getting the cooking spray and spraying their snake.
anyway so aside from provent-a-mite i would also do a daily soak in warm water (about 90degrees) with a few drops(about 3 drops to every 1.5 gal of water) of hand soap. have the water level in the tun you are soaking them in just a touch deeper then their backs are off of the ground. you dont want the snake to have to swim the whole time but enough to cover most of their body with water. let them sit in there for about 30min to and hour.
The idea with that is to drown out the mites. the soap helps minimize the chance of them having an air bubble with them under the snakes scales.
but i would say you should really use as many tactics as you can. mites are hell.

oh and you should keep doing what ever treatment you choose for 90 days minimum. Eggs could lay dormant for a while.

So easy. I'm not sure why people always over react.
1) Take a roll of paper towel and unroll as many squares as you have snakes. (10 snakes = 10 squares of paper towel).
2) Spray Provent-a-Mite on the paper towel and allow it to dry (wait an hour to be safe).
3) put 1 square of paper towel in each of the snakes enclosures
4) repeat the same steps in 2 weeks or if paper towel becomes soiled.
DONE!
