    got a new ball python

    he everyone,

today I picked up a new Female BP, she is from 2007 and is a 2420 gram proven 100% het. Hypo and she looks great,

I got one question though, she is the first BP I have that is above 2000 grams and I was wondering how often and how big I should feed her if I want to breed her coming season?
I know she is big/heavy enough already but the previous owner has been slow feeding her for the last 2 years as he didn't have breeding plans for her.
(The year before that she laid 6 eggs and the year before that she laid 5.)

    Thanks,

    Andrew

Congrats on your new one. I've got some that will take down Large rats and they'll get those on occasion. Like when I retire my breeder rats. But I feed most of my adult BPs small to medium rats. I've got girls up to 4200 grams (some get extras). So I'd say feed her smalls to start and increase the size to see what she'll take. Good luck.

    Hey Mike, thanks.

I know she eats F/T rats, the guy I got her from fed her a bigger rat once every 3-4 weeks but like I said he didnt have any breeding plans with her the last 2 years, I do wanna try to breed with her (to prove out a little dinker of mine) so I wanna feed her enough to grow a bit more and have more reserves but I do not want to feed her to much and make her fat

A nice small to medium rat every 7-10 days should work just fine. Try and see if she'll take them. I feed all my adults every 7 days. I'll bump up to every 5 days just before the season on some of the girls just to put a little weight reserve weight on them. So far its worked really well.

No problem, hope it helps. Its what I've done and works well for me. Others may have different methods that work too. Just gotta see what works. Good luck, keep us updated.
