I use a UTH and a occasional heat lamp because its a little colder in my house. The UTH seems to work fine by its self. But i just started building my tank seeing as ive only had him for a day.

    Re: Heating

I use an ambient light that is on a 12 hour day
And night cycle plus a uth with a thermostat controller set to 90 to not make the uth to hot for my Simi girl. Its a little colder where I live but my house is well insulated so we don't need a heat lamp

    Re: Heating

So quick question im under the assumption that a uvb bulb is the same as a night bulb, correct? Cause right now thats my heat source since i dont have a thermostat for the heat pad to control that temp.

    Re: Heating

A night bulb generally won't emit any UVB. I haven't seen a night bulb that will but they may be around. Typically a night bulb just provides heat and soft ambient lighting (normally either blue or red) to avoid stress at night

Last I heard the consensus is that snakes don't need UVB

I've only ever used a ceramic to heat my viv. I've never bothered with a UHT since they are basically useless with a wooden viv unless you put it inside the enclosure, and my girl has been very happy and healthy with just the ceramic for the year that I've had her. I have a separate white LED strip on a timer plug 12 hour on/off cycle to provide a day/night sim
