Excited, nervous and overall happy to be soon to be snake family!
My husband and I are newly weds, and we are both animal lovers! Unfortunatley the apartment we live in doesnt allow cats or dogs, or animals that could ruin the furniture that they provide. :'(
HOWEVER! My husband and I were told that we could have a tank and something in it, and we went to the pet store and guess what my husband fell in love with?
A ball Python...
*sigh*
So now, we are in search of a baby girl to bring home, and hopefully, if all goes well, will have one this weekend.
We have done a lot of reasearch and decided on what we want in a tank, heating sources, etc., but were hoping for some advice for snake newbies?

Check out kingsnake.com or faunaclassifieds. They have thousands of ball pythons to choose from that you can order from reputable breeders across the country.

I like this tub setup guide for newbies... http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...e-Basics-*DUW*
Even if you don't follow the brands of equipment, the step by step, pictures, and list of necessary equipment gives a good idea on what kind of setup is needed.
And yes, find a ball python on faunaclassified! http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...play.php?f=499
There are a ton of hobby breeders out there who are very reputable AND have good prices.
Urr, other than that... once you got the setup and prey size right, ball pythons are THE MOST low-maintenance, easiest pet I have ever owned. And I have owned many species!

Congrats on your future scale baby. Just a warning, they are addicting, I'm starting out with my first ball python too. Now my wife wants to get a leopard gecko or two. There's a ton of helpful and friendly people on this site so don't ever be afraid to ask questions. You should post some pictures when you get her, I'd love to see.
