    Mojave Girl finally arrives!

Hey guys, so she's finally here! Straight from Royal Constrictor Designs. It's so true that they are so much more beautiful in person than in pictures! I didn't get a chance to take many pictures yet since I put her in her enclosure as soon as she got here. I did get a couple shots when she was out exploring! She really wanted to find a fault in the enclosure by exploring the top ahhah. I was worried for a while because she didn't seem to find the entrances to the hides, but I look away for a minute and now she's gone! Pretty sure she found her hot hide. Still not sure what to name her...though I might go with Theia. Gonna leave her be for the first week and then hopefully try my first ever feed next week. I'm REALLY anxious about being a good keeper! Just want her to feel safe and secure.

    Big update!

I had ordered from Big Cheese Rodent Factory but I forgot they only shipped on Mondays and Tuesdays, and I had placed the order last Wednesday, so i had to wait a full week and a day or so until I got the mice in. At least it gave her time to adjust! I took a hopper out in the afternoon and left it out during the day to thaw on its own so I could attempt to feed her by night time when she goes out and explores. I placed it underneath the heat lamp ontop of her screen top for it to warm up (and for her to start getting a scent) for 5-6 minutes until it was warm to the touch. I used a hemostat, but the hemostat was pretty large and the decor branch in the tank along with the small "feeding window" on the screen top made it difficult to get a good angle to present it to her.

In the end she got spooked and hid in her warm hide, I was pretty disappointed at this point because I thought I messed up and thought she wouldn't eat. However, I'd heard of people leaving it in front of their hides and then having them been eaten by morning so that's what I did, I placed the hopper right in front of her warm hide entrance and within 30 SECONDS she struck and ate it straight away! I'm so happy she ate and that my first time feeding EVER was a success, if a sketchy one at that, hah.

A question though, i also ordered rat fuzzies (10-19 grams as the description says) which are a bit bigger than the mouse hoppers that I got (8-11 grams...though the one I fed her weighed 7g). I'm wondering if I should attempt to switch her to rat fuzzies as soon as possible so that she'll grow up eating rats and not have a problem switching later on, or if it's healthier for now to continue with mice hoppers and switch to rats at some other point.

Hey guys, just putting up some update pictures. She arrived at 65g on August 4th and now she's around 145g! She's taken every meal offered, (and i even switched her to rat fuzzies successfully) and shed perfectly last month (waiting on her next shed soon), and has never struck once. She's a dream and I've really grown so attached!

    Wink Update

She's still doing quiet well! Still eats every meal no problem, all of her sheds have been one single piece with eye caps and everything. I've upgraded to rat pups once a week now but she's gonna outgrow that in no time. I absolutely adore her.

Considering when to upgrade the size of her tank-- I'm saving up for an animal plastics T8 or T10. Not sure when to actually move her up though. She's currently 311 grams so she's still good for the 20 gallon tank I have her in for the time being.

She's amazing during handling, so much so that my mother, who had a phobia towards snakes at first, can now hold her and really enjoys to as well! I wish I could say the same for my father, he's still reluctant to even touch her I really couldn't be any happier with her. She's an incredible animal. I really have to thank this forum and this community for all the available information, help, and advice, both directly and indirectly. I'm not a frequent poster but I always lurk around. It's thanks to you guys I was able to get her and give her a happy (as happy as snakes can get, lol) and healthy home.
