Where do I put the probe?

I've been using dimmer switches with all of my racks because they're easier to set up than a Herpstat and they work really well for me. However, the new quarantine rack is going to be on the spare Herpstat and I'm not sure what to do with the probe. I know, dumb question, but I honestly have no idea.

For a rack with belly heat I put the probe on top of the tape on a middle shelf, off to one side so the tub sliding in and out doesn't hit it. I tape down the probe and a bit of the cord in place so the probe doesn't move.

For a rack with back heat I tape the probe to the very back of one of the middle shelves, centered on the shelf, assuming that area is accessible. Again, tape the probe and cord down so the probe can't shift.

Ok, it's back heat. So I tape it to the very back, not to the heat tape, yes?

I put mine on the very back of one of the shelves. Sometimes the heat tape isn't tight up against the back of the rack either, in that case you can slide the probe between the heat tape and the back wall. In both cases it's important that the probe doesn't move as you slide tubs in and out of the rack, so make sure it's well-secured.
