When I thought about getting my first ball python over a year ago, I did a lot of research. Researching has paid off as I have had no issues whats so ever with health, feeding or attitudes. But now as I am getting ready to breed this up coming year, I am getting a little nervous (and excited of course) to what the perfect temperature really is. Currently my hot spot stays at a constant 90F(heat tape is set to). The ambient temperatures definitely goes down during the night to about 78F with the hot spot still at 90F. Day time it can raise to 86F. This will change once winter approaches and the ambient temps will go down. But during breeding, do I lower the hot spot even though the ambient temperature will naturally go down anyway? About 72F at night to about 80F during the day, at least this is what happened last winter. I cannot seem to read just one article that gives me constant information and I am well aware of people breeding with and without lowering their temperatures but I think I want to go the cool down route. Also, do I lower temperatures ONLY at night during the breeding season and raise them back up to normal temperatures during the day?
