    Feeding Questions

So my BP family just grew from 1 to 3 (half off sale at PETCO ). I am unsure of the age of the 1st one, Osiris, but I weighed him today and he weighs 84 grams. He's so precious. The two i bought today, Aset and Cleopatra, both weigh 152g and 180g. At the store they said they couldnt be more than 4 mos old.

Osiris's feeding schedule said he was eating small fuzzies 2x a week. I attempted to feed him wed and thur evening this week and he wouldn't. guess he's still settling in.

PETCO folks could only tell me they feed their snakes (Aset and Cleopatra) early thursday afternoons. not what, what size, or nothing.

I'm fairly certain Cleopatra (Spider Ball/180g) is too big for small fuzzies, but what should i start her on? and the others? i guess what i feed them is based on their size, so where should i start?

They're all in the decent sized fuzzy/smaller pup range (rats).

You can go about figuring out sizes of food (for hatchlings) for yourself one of two ways:
    1. The size of the widest part of their body
    2. 10-15% of their body weight - only applies to hatchlings up to ~500 grams

Congrats on your new additions! Snake sales can be dangerous.

    Re: Feeding Questions

Congrats on the new additions! Imo, I would just give them time to settle in with no handling on your part whatsoever for the next 5 to 7 days. Only go into the enclosure to spot clean and change water. Firstly, monitor the husbandry numbers, temps , humidity. make sure you have hides for them that they can squeeze into (tight). Offer meals on your set feeding schedule and if its refused, don't offer again until the next scheduled feeding day. I purchased a pastel bp from Petco back in Feb. 2014 and she ate on the third day after she was set up and hasn't missed a meal since. She weighs 1550 gms today. Stay vigilant and confident and the bp will eat for you soon. Good luck.
Stay in peace and not pieces.
