Ball python internal bleeding PLEASE HELP!
I got my 1 year old ball python a year ago and her health has been declining. I took her to the vet today because it was suspected that she might have internal parasites. They gave her fluids, dewormed her ( for the second time ) and took some blood.
It took the vet three tries to take blood from her because some stupid reason. When I took her home, I put her back in her cage. A couple minutes later I heard her sneezing so I went to check it out. When I looked there was blood splattered on the wall of her tank.
My main concern is that the vet might have punctured her lung trying to take blood and it caused internal bleeding. I'm really scared and my snake is the most precious thing in the world to me.
Right now, she is laying on the cold side of her tank and the sneezing up blood has stopped. But I'm still really worried.

I moved this thread to the General BP forum and removed the duplicate one you created there, as this one has received replies. I understand your concern, however please avoid creating multiple threads of the exact same topic. As you can see, your post will certainly generate plenty of attention without blasting the forums with it.

Re: Ball python internal bleeding PLEASE HELP!

i hope your snake will be ok.
how did it get internal parasites? please check your snake's enclosure, food and water source.
also i'm not familiar with respiratory infections with snakes, but it seems to happen as i see thread about it, so i would keep a lookout for that b/c of it's lung bleeding.
all my best.

IIRC getting a blood sample from a snake requires the needle to go into the heart. If your BP is sneezing up blood it may have a lung punctured.
Personally I wouldn't have wasted time posting on an online forum, the snake would be headed back to the vet.

It can also be withdrawn from the tail. At least with larger species.
Best of luck to you, that has to be a terrible feeling. I don't think anybody is going to be of much help from here.
