How long before taking food out

My snakes are in shed and I usually won't feed if they have clouded eyes but I had forgotten until after defrosting the mice so I figured why waste perfectly good snake chow. Palm has completely clouded eyes but had no problem eating, while haunters eyes are clearing up and she has some visibility but she's been working on her mouse for over 30 minutes now. How long is too long before I should try to take the mouse away? I really hate to do that since she's trying to eat it.

Don't mess with them if they're still trying to eat. That sounds like a good way to get tagged and would just upset the snake. Just leave it in overnight; if it's still there in the morning then throw it out.
