    ball python rubbing scales off

    one of my females has rubbed off some of the scales between her eyes, i have never had on off my reptiles do this. will it get infected? is there any way i can stop her from rubbing?

    You can clean the spot with a weak tea colored betadine/water solution if you think it looks like an open wound; I usually use sterile saline to clean any little issue straight away, and the betadine/water if needed. You need to find out where/how she is rubbing herself and see if you can sand it down or something to make it not as issue. Is all of her husbandry on point?

    she is in a 20 gallon tank with aspen substrate, all her temperatures are correct. i haven't noticed any difference in behavior.

    i'm cleaning the spot with the weak tea betadine right now.

    Probably the screen top I'm betting or something else in the encloser. You need to fig out what she's rubbing on or it will get worse

    Yup. Look around her tank, pick up everything and feel for any potentially rough spots. See if you can catch her doing it. Look at the underside of the screen top see if it has any signs of where she might be rubbing. I know some snakes will rub on a screen top trying to escape if they are feeling unsafe in their enclosure.... How long have you had her?
