    Fasting or an eating problem?

Our ball python (Snakey) use to be such an easy eater (we never live feed). Last year he went through a stint where he refused to eat. In the end, he had 2 sheds almost back to back (within 2 weeks of each other) and then he started eating again.

3 months ago he had an incomplete shed (a first for us). A month later, his eye caps came off, we got the humidity back under control and all is good, but still wasn't eating. Another month later, he finally had a full complete shed so I was relieved feeling like we were dealing with a clean slate. But now he's still not eating. It's been 2 months. I've been reading up how they can fast sometimes. Anyone have experience with that? I've tried smaller mice and rats. I've tried different ways to heat them up. Making sure the room is super dark. He acts as if he's scared. He'll get close and interested and then suddenly back away real quick. He's been quite active though.

We are not super snake people. We don't have any other snakes, no clue his age or gender. He was a rescue from some folks that didn't care for him properly. We actually never meant to keep him this long, we were originally going to rehome. But here we are LOL

    Any help would be great.
Temp is around 80 degrees, and humidity about 75%. I've remodeled his hidy holes to accommodate his growing size

Your hot spot is 80? And yes they will fast a long time. I just got one of my males to feed after not eating for 7 months. As long as he is looking healthy and not looseing to much weight he will be fine

    7 months, wow!

I haven't gotten a scale that will weigh him but I will. Appearance, he looks great and is active at night. He perks up more when I come around so that's what makes me think he's hungry and looking for food.

The general air in the tank is 80. I don't have a therm on his hot spot. He doesn't use his cool spot even though the hides are the same exact thing.

Do you have a under tank heating pad? You really need to know how hot your hot spot is so you don't burn him. How are you controlling the hot spot? Pics of encloser would be great
