Hi guys,
sorry to not be around so much recently.
We have been working on a very large case and it has become time consuming(sp?). Anyhow said case is now over and done with thankfully and we have some new animals to rehab.
And if you guessed it had something to do with that horrid reptile zoo closing down in Long Island (NY) you guessed it right.
As of now it looks as if the turtles went to turtle rescue, the iguanas and alike went to iguana rescue and the monitors and large boids are with us. (with a few more on the way I believe).
We made a trip down to the International Fauna Society on Friday evening (after eight hours of work who wouldn't want to take a six hour drive?) where the animals were being temporarily housed. I want to say if anyone is in the area of Long Island go check out the International Fauna Society and their serpentarium. Great people, beautiful animals.
Well as of now we have taken custody of 1 Malaysian monitor, 1 Lace Monitor, 1 Asian Water Monitor, 2 nile monitors, 2 medium sized yellow anacondas, and one very large nasty green anaconda. I have one black and white tegu coming today and I believe a roughneck and another asian monitor coming shortly.
Everyone is in need of medical treatment with conditions from mite infestation (all of them are ridden w/ parasites), mouth rot (lg anaconda) bite wounds, broken toes, liver and kidney issues. and sadly the Lace monitor has a neurological disorder due to being hit in the head with a large brick a few months ago. It looks as if everyone will pull through with the proper medications. We are very concerned for the large anaconda, and the largest (6.5-7 ft) asian water monitor, so please keep them in your good thoughts.
We are glad it is over. Now the healing of these poor refugees can begin. I remember when we were first introduced to this case in June/July of last year. This zoo was horrific. My stomache still turns at the thought of that establishment.
Anyhow, our second issue is somehow our home computer was hacked into. I don't know how as I am not too computer savy, but apparently someone stole our IP adress (is that possible?, I don't know thats just what I was told) But if anyone can help (Carson, Carson, Carson please feel free to call us (eves are best) at (860) 432-7925. I don't know if it can be fixed with instructions over the phone, but with this new rescue we have very light wallets. and I am not able to bring it too anyone for repair at the moment.
Anyhow I am at work, and just rambleing on. I'll try and catch a few topics while I am here. Hopefully my pc at home will be fixed soon as I need a full dose of BP.net to keep me going.
Thanks all
Rusty
