    Finicky little things..

I've had my butter female for just over a month and I'm already finding out how touchy these snakes are!!! I originally tried keeping her in a tub but I couldn't ever get my temperatures high enough. It was like hotspot of 87 with an ambient of right at 75... She hasn't in the entire month I've had her eaten or even acted interested in eating.
I finally gave up on the tub and put her in an aquarium.. Got my temps perfect and used foil over the top and moss to get the right humidity, and gave her a week.
I put the little rat in there to wander around and catch her attention (I know live rats should never be left in there but it's too small to do anything) and left her for a few minutes and she finally ate!!!
I have been so stressed about her not eating and I am so relieved that she finally did!!! I thought I was prepared but these things can be a little difficult!

Glad she ate for you. It's not that you shouldn't leave mice or rats in the enclosure, it's that you shouldn't leave them in there UNATTENDED. A few minutes while you watch from across the room or something won't hurt anything.
