I posted this in the ball python forum but it is also for a boa.
I usually buy cypress mulch but it is pretty expensive. I use this only for my boa. My Ball pythons only get unprinted news paper, but when shedding, I use paper towel and I would like something that will hold humidity better. I was looking at the coconut fiber bricks which is $10 for three bricks which is more then half cheaper then cypress mulch which also means I can use it for my BP snake rack as well since it is so cheap. But I am worried about them swallowing it when I feed them and I am not entirely sure if it is better then cypress mulch for humidity. With my boa, I have to spray his cage down every three days. He lives in a 5ft x 2ft x 2ft melamine enclosure so it is a lot of work to get the water to soak in and stay in.
So, is coconut husk worth switching over to? What are your opinions on which is better?
