    HET questions

I know this subject goes for most pythons and boa morphs. But in retics specifically. How exactly do people claim double het for their retics.
I know with most clutches there will be normals that will be het for something or could be het for nothing. Then there is possible het. I know its just a gamble
on this when your purchase a PH but what are the odds? Just wondering since the Het is a big selling point nowadays.

This question is confusing - talking about double hets or poss hets?

Double hets are easy - pair two recessive visuals together of different mutations and you get true double hets (pied x albino = double het albino pied).

% chance breaks down to parental chances

    het x het = 66% het

    het x normal = 50% het

    66% het x normal = 33% het (poss het)

    33% het x normal = don't even bother lol

However, whenever you prove out a gene - your 33% or whatever, het becomes 100% het, and its offspring will then vary based on breeding.

Retics are my passion. Just ask.

    Re: HET questions

I think I follow. Thanks for the breakdown. Not to get off the subject but I recently got a 2011 75% SD anery female. She's 6 ft plus. Anyway your not going to believe this! I was feeding her some frozen thawed large rats. After I gave her the second one I come back and her substrate. A 26x30 puppy pad is gone! She freaking swallowed it!!! I did some research and I found there not toxic. But is she going to be okay??? I pull her out and she looks at me like what's the big deal? Retics!!!!!!
