    Skin Showing Between Scales

Hello. I am new to these forums, though I have kept several snakes throughout the years. I currently have a BP that I have owned for about a month. I had him in to the vet a few days ago, where I found out that he is perfectly healthy, and also that he is indeed a male.

A few days ago, I decided to increase his feeder size from a large mouse to a full-grown gerbil. Everything went perfectly, but now when I look at him, I can see a tiny bit of skin between the scales where the lump in him is. I know that this is probably just in my imagination, and it is probably just that particular part of him stretching to accommodate the meal, but I have also heard that this sort of phenomenon can be the result of overfeeding. I only feed him once every seven days, and he is still quite young, probably 1 1/2 to 2 years old. I apologize, but I am unable to provide any pictures at this time.

Any advice would be appreciated, and thank you for your time.

I'd say the prey item was only a tiny bit larger than his widest point. I'm in sort of a pickle, because the largest mice they have are too small, and the smallest rats they have are too large. I just want to be sure that my ball isn't getting obese.

You can just feed him multiple of the smaller prey you dont have to only feed one prey item, best to be under sized then over

I wouldn't worry about this as long as he isn't completely stretched. Give it a couple days and he'll be back to normal. A food item slightly larger than his girth is perfectly reasonable.
