Sick Boa

I accidentally fed my wife's Sun Glow baby boa a jumbo mouse instead of the small/medium she normally eats. She barely moved after she ate it and it left an obvious lump in her body. I thought that after she passed the mouse she would be better, but she's looking worse and has lost scales. Her color has changed and she actually looks really thin now and refused the appropriate sized mouse I offered her on Tuesday. We gave her a week off feed after the jumbo mouse so now it's been over two weeks since she's ate. So, has anyone else had experience with this? Is there anything we can do, or does she need to go to a vet?

You should not being seeing lost scales and color just from a feeder that was a bit over sized. Maybe some pics or at least more detail about where and how the scales are coming off would help but for the moment I don't know what it could be.

Was it a F/T mouse that you didn't thaw all the way? Was it maybe bad? I've read about issues with a certain rodent company(i'll keep the name anonymous) that had bad F/T and a few people had the same symptoms as you got but their snakes regurgitated the food item in an acidic extremely foul smelling pile. Regardless though, bottom line is you need to get the snake to a vet. I've fed my snakes stuff that was too large before but all they did was go into a food coma for about a week longer than usual for obvious reasons but after that, they were back out and looking for dinner again.

I highly doubt that the issue has anything to do with the mouse. Like Sauzo said, boas can down pretty large rodents and simply don't move for a couple days to digest. Where did it lose scales?
