As I may have mentioned earlier, Pelota was in shed for the second time in my care. As usual, it took exactly a week for her to shed. Last friday at 8pm I discovered she had blue eyes. I then kept the humidity up to 75-80% from then on, and tonight, right on schedule at 8pm, she shed. The cool thing about it is I got to see her shed. By some big coincidence, I had a friend over and he wanted me to go get a cd. We were debating who should go up there to get it, but then I thought "bah, he won't know where it is". So I went upstairs to grab the cd. Then on my way out, I thought I better check on Pelota's temps and such. I checked her warm hide she's always in, and it was empty. I'm thinking "strange...where's lazybones?" so I was frantically looking around the cage for her, when I finally seen some movement. Curled up in a pretzel shape, next to her water bowl, was Pelota, shedding. Only my second shed with her, and I got to watch her shed her first perfect one piece shed for me. I called my friend up, who's not much on snakes, and he watched it with me. After witnessing such a seemingly rare occurance, even his interest was peaked. After the shed, I unrolled it and checked to see everything came off fine. It did, except for the tip of the tail, which never seems to work itself off. So with a quick dip in some water, it came off like nothing. So as I was fiddling with the shed, all happy, my friend asked to hold Pelota. He got to bond with her for a few minutes as I started thawing a mouse for her, since it was feeding night(perfect timing with that shed, lol). I came up to my room with the thawed mouse 10 minutes later, and my friend was laying on the bed with Pelota crawling around on him. I think they're in love.
So anyway, he then got to watch as I fed Pelota. He was all excited over how fast she strikes and coils that sucker up. Then we watched her swallow, yawn a few times, and then I placed her back in her cage, where she retired for the night in her warm hide.

So, all in all, I got to witness my snake shed, I got a nice 1 piece shed, and I seemed to have peaked my friends interest in snakes. Yay!

Oh, and I know what all the excitement is about one piece sheds now. It's good to know your husbandry is all good. 8)

Yay for the one piece shed. It's always fun to see somebody else get interested in snakes. Everybody seems to like my ball the best...of course it might be different if I had a boa

Yea, thats awesome! I got my friend interested in snakes, but she likes mice, and she couldn't handle feeding it. But everytime she comes over she asks to hold my snake. And she brought her friend over one time and was showing of my snakes, lol.

Congrats on the shed. I am always amazed how people take to my ball pythons. They are usually a bit creeped out by my boa, maybe it's the evil little look on his face and the "scarey" pupils in his eyes? But people are somehow drawn to BPs; maybe it's because their faces are more rounded and "cuter?" Don't know.

    to you all.

And yeah, I'm keeping my first shed, and all one piece sheds from now on. So if my husbandry stays like it is, I might have a lot of one piece sheds sooner or later. I have the shed from friday night in a big ziplock bag, so I think I'll do that with the others in the future, and mark the date on the bags so I can have a progress thingy.
