    Starting the breeding process soon!

Hello everyone! My female ball is 800 grams and with another 2 months of feeding, I should be at weight. So I just wanted to know how to get started. My male is well up to weight, so how do I get follicle growth and all that great stuff? I will be watching videos too, but helpful hints are great. Thanks!

One of the most important things I'm learning from ball pythons and this forum is patients. Be patient and don't try to rush things.

Also i think i remember reading that allot of females do a small hunger strike at 1000 grams. I don't know but i seem to think i read that a couple times.

The 1000 gram wall!!! Yup. Some go off feed. Have patience with her. Better to wait a little longer than to have eggs that don't make it cause she's a little small.

I just did a video on follicle growth and what to look for when breeding. Hopefully the video helps!

How old is the girl. That is more important.

What on earth are you feeding her that you'll have her to an appropriate breeding size in 2 months? Common practice is about 1500 grams and even as small as 1200 for breeding. Even expecting your girl to gain just 100 grams a month is going to be a stretch, let alone 200 to 350. Patience is a virtue in this more than anything, don't be afraid to sit back and wait a while for her to get up to a good size (bigger snakes drop bigger clutches, after all). Use the time in front of you to research a little more so you'll be as ready as possible when she is.
