    Crazy snake!!

I just got my 2nd BP Sunday and the person I bought him from said he was so gentle and sweet that he has never even offered to strike. Well I cant even walk by his tank with out him lunging at me with his mouth wide open slamming into the glass, I took everyones advice to leave him alone he is in the same tank that she had him in and nothing has changed but he is now at my house I haven't tried to touch him or get him out. If he hears or sees anyone coming within eyesight he gets in a strike position and he will hit the tank hard until u get out of sight. My question is this normal will he ever calm down???? His temps and everything are ri%ght on point on the hot and cool side and humidity is at 60%

Hi, how old is this bp? Try taping dark construction paper to 3 of the four outside panes of glass. This way only the front of the enclosure can be viewed to see inside. At the same time its a security blanket for him as he can only see out of the front. Talk to the previous owner as well maybe he can shed some light on this dilemma as well. Stay in peace and not pieces. Good luck.

She fed him Sunday so he isn't due to eat again till this sunday she said only once a week. My other male BP just looks at him like he is crazy everytime he hits the side of his tank lol . I honestly don't know what to do some people say to leave them alone for a week or more then others say to show him that striking will not keep me from touching him. I am not afraid of him tagging me I am more afraid he is going to have brain damage from hitting the side of his tank so hard and so much

I have construction paper all around and just now even put it on the front so maybe he will stop hitting the front of the glass. I asked the prev owner about his behavior and she was shocked and swore he never did any of this with her but I kinda think she is lying because this snake seems like it was tortured or something he shakes really bad right before he comes at u with his mouth wide open I think maybe her kids tapped on his tank and aggravated him all the time maybe that is why he is so aggressive he will be one in july

He is just stressed. Try moving him to a place that has less foot traffic. A room that is hardly used. Also place more hides in his cage if more will fit. You can make temporary ones out of boxes. By the sound of things it seems you have had him for less then a day. It is pretty common for a new snake to strike out. I would not cover then entire cage with construction paper honestly. He does need to get used to the fact that the front will be open for view. Do not try to hold him for two weeks. Feed him on Sunday then again next Sunday and 48hrs after that you can try to hold him. Best thing to do if he is still snappy is to not hesitate. Do not give him a chance to fixate on his target.

Wow, I thought it was a hatchling or a young bp. O.k. so I guess we are into long term behavior modification and stress removal. The covering of the glass and the more hide issues are good starts. So right now we have taken some steps and let's give them about a week or so. Did the previous owner say what she was feeding him? Maybe it has been underfed? Just give him the week or so for now then after that hit plan b!!!!

I'm telling you. Even though he's not due to eat until Sunday, try feeding him. Monty was doing this exact same thing, and I found out I was under feeding her. Try to up his prey size, too.

I got him out today to try to feed him he was on live rats and he was not interested in it at all he just kept trying to tag me. I left him and the rat alone well not alone I could see them to make sure that he was safe he never once went after the rat I left it there for about 10 minutes the rat went over him and he never once struck at it but as soon as I got close enough for him to see him he started trying to tag me and kept after me when I was getting the rat out he didn't want the rat he wanted me so I am going to leave him alone for awhile and hope he will calm down
