"One time my daughter and I were sitting in our car at my other daughters house. The man next door had a HUGE yellow snake outside on his porch. I was so scared. It wouldn't have taken anything for it to get across the yard and get in our car after us. I was so happy when he picked it up and went back inside."

One of those "the only good snake is a dead snake" on fb posts. Paraphrasing since I don't have the actual image anymore, but it was so ludicrous that it really stuck in my mind.

When you're at a pet shop and there is a bowl of meal worms in with the ball pythons. I know pet supplies plus is bad, but come on...

Oh, come on! They HAVE to have care sheets or planograms!

We have a water dragon at work that wasn't doing so hot because he didn't eat and one day I took a chance (after doing research) and deliberately put meal worms in with him even though the planograms do not include them for him. I think it saved him. I have never seen such beautiful coloration and he's so active and eats much more salad now. Still hates crickets though! They still give him worms daily

They're not but Petco doesn't include them in the planograms thus they usually don't receive them. They usually only get a salad and some crickets

i havent heard anything too bad about snakes, aside from the typical "they're all evil" debate lol. I've heard bad advice in the fish section of our petcos/petsmart around here so many times it's not funny, mainly dealing with pleco, balas and rainbow sharks. I did however overhear an employee telling a new beardie owner that they just needed a really hot heat bulb and did fine on crickets forever...

That is awful! We give ours a large salad, a bowl of meal worms, and crickets and they mainly like the worms and salad. We actually deny people purchase of certain fish unless they have a tank up and running or if they don't have proper housing for it, etc, etc. I had a lady tell me that she was just buying sharks to feed to her larger sharks in the tank to which we promptly told her we couldn't sell to her. Our store takes pride in ensuring the safety of both the customer and pet.

Re: A Day at Petco (Funny stories ahead!)

I have a friend of a friend who just moved to a new area and setup her 10ft boas tank on the ba k Florida room just like ours. Well, word got around that she had a snake so the neighborhood kids would peek through the screen to check him out. Then one day she came home and the locks on his cage were cut...someone forced entry onto her porch and stole him! There was an immediate investigation under way but mean while the cops told her to post REWARD posters that said she lost it because 'if you say they stole it they will release it'. Now she's getting a lot of hate and people are telling her that she's the reason the Everglades are overrun by non native snakes, etc, etc. It's mass hysteria. People are calling the cops top escort them to their vehicles because they say the monster snake will eat them and their children. Anyway, the police narrowed down suspects and got a warrant but the kids already had a heads up and RELEASED THE SNAKE. So now, she says if they get a call about a large snake they call her to see if it's him...and she's very distraught because they refuse to grab him for her even though he's been in captivity with her for 17 YEARS and has never bitten her...

That is such a shame. The only ones hurt here are that woman and her snake, pure victims. And those kids won't be held responsible, not without any rock solid proof.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
