Partly cracked breeder cage -- possible to repair?

A few weeks ago, I got my first snake ever (yay!) from someone who'd been keeping him in a glass breeder cage. I must have put too much weight into the cage, because the bottom started to crack after a few hours. I took everything out of the cage as fast as I could, and put duct tape over the cracks to stop them from getting worse. The glass pane is still intact, but there are a few big cracks running across it. I'm sure it would break if I tried to put anything in there.

Right now the snake is safe somewhere else, and the breeder cage is empty. I really want to fix this cage! Does anyone have any advice or experience to share with me? If I cannot repair this tank, I will have to throw it away.

Thank you so much! I'm really happy to finally have a snake of my very own.

You might want to try some silicone smoothed into the cracks and allowed to dry for 24 hours. Then follow that up with a gel cement and dry for another 24 hours. That should be enough to protect the bp from injury but I wouldn't think about putting anything heavy in there. No water either. There is a glass repair kit at Auto Zone also for windshields as another option. Consider eventually going to something new. Good luck. Stay in peace and not pieces.
