Yellow belly genetics
Hey all,
I'm new to this forum and to ball pythons, though I have as well a boa, veiled chameleon, a beardie, and a crestie. I just purchased a female yellow belly ball python and I am starting to keep ball pythons because I am interested in breeding them.
Im still learning a lot about genetics and morphs and I wanted to get the details on the genetics of a yellow belly. I have heard they are het for ivory? Is this true? Aside from producing ivory babies, what else would I get if I breed them?

Re: Yellow belly genetics
If you breed two yellowbellies together you can get Ivories, yellowbellies and normals.
Derek
7 adult Royals (2.5), 1.0 COS Pastel, 1.0 Enchi, 1.1 Lesser platty Royal python, 1.1 Black pastel Royal python, 0.1 Blue eyed leucistic ( Super lesser), 0.1 Piebald Royal python, 1.0 Sinaloan milk snake 1.0 crested gecko and 1 bad case of ETS. no wife, no surprise.

Re: Yellow belly genetics
Dr Del hit it with what a Yellowbelly will produce when paired with a normal. However, there are a lot of other morphs that can be paired with a Yellowbelly to make some beautiful combos. Paired with a Spark, you can get Pumas. Paired with a Spector you can get Super Stripes. Even a Fire Yellowbelly is a nice looking morph. You have time so, go to World of Ball Pythons and play with their genetics list, see what inspires you. Best of luck.

Re: Yellow belly genetics
I too just bought a yellow belly bp 0.1 for future breeding plans (a small investment to wait 5 years for her to grow into proper breeding size) and i was wondering if we could keep this thread going about their genetics?
I enjoy lighter coloured snakes so the ivory gene was a pretty good base building block to my inexperienced self, i also learned that having a simple single gene in the female and having multiple genes in the male was more ideal. wondering if we could keep talking about good combos with yellow belly females

Unless you super slow grow her it will be 3 years or slightly less. Most of my females make 1500-2000 by their 3rd year which is a good size
Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.
