    Shedding?????

I recently brought home a 3 year old. Pastel ball python. His last feed went great so no issues there. 24 hours ago I noticed flaky skin on the top of his head but no where else and he was really agitated and jumpy when handled which is the total opposite of his attitude seeing as he is handled almost daily by my 6 year old daughter unless it is after a feed. This is my first experience with a ball python... PLZ some advice???

    To the Forum.

As a general rule, roughly 4-7 days before the shed some or all of these symptoms occur : your snakes eyes will get cloudy, milky, or what is referred to as in the blue, Their belly may get a little pink as well. Their activity slows down or even stops for a few days. Basically they want to be left alone. This is why their disposition may turn a little sour and it's best not to handle them or feed them until the day after shed.

Unless your humidity is usually dead on at 50-60%, crank it up to 70 when these signs show to ensure an even one piece shed.
Some folks crank it up anyway.

    Re: Shedding?????

He's not crunchy or wrinkly and feels smooth his entire length but is darker then usual and he hasn't been really bright the last 2 days . No clouding of his eyes or any other symptoms other than being cranky. Can't get a pic he doesn't want to come out of his hide
