    First shed was a success

She finally shed after being blue for a while. Is it just me or does it seem like it takes forever for them to shed? Anyway her shed was great altho when I moved her hide to get her shed out she hissed when I picked her up to make sure she didn't have anything left over. Is that normal?

Re: First shed was a success

The whole shed process can take up to two weeks. My juvi girl is way quicker about it than my male adult, he takes dam near the whole two weeks. Maybe if she just shed right before you picked her up then she was still just uncomfortable and getting handled so quickly afterwards just startled her. Especially if she is a juvi, I wouldn't worry about it

Don't be scared of a lil hiss. Just hiss back.

My BP will give a lil hiss every once and a while and my Bloods do it all the time. If you really want to see ferocious you should see my lil Hoggy put on a show, she is completely silly sometimes.

Re: First shed was a success

I'm not sure when she shed it was inside her hide. I was being nosy and I picked it up and snake and shed in the same hide so she hissed when I picked her up. I wasn't to worried about the hiss but I want to make sure nothing was wrong

Re: First shed was a success

I think it seems to take a long time, when really it's two days. It may have been that you scared her. She may have just finished shedding and bam the hide gets moved by something bigger than her. If your husbandry is correct and she's been eating fine (and just shed nicely) I wouldn't worry about it too much. Snakey is sassy sometimes and I've been hissed at before. Happened more when he was younger.
