For the people will a enclosed belly heat rack.

How many thermostats do you have running your rack? I have searched and searched and still haven't found a straight answer.

One per rack, probe on a middle shelf. The heat tape should all be the same type/length on each shelf.

with the probe on the middle shelf the you'll only have a slight temperature variance between top and bottom

Is that slight to much or no? I have read every 2 to 3 shelves I also have read one per rack. So what's correct? Are the temperature differences big enough to where you can't use the top or bottom because there to hot or cold?

The tallest I have is 8 41-qt tubs high and I've not noticed any difference. I've found there's more of a variation if the tub is warped on the bottom, which permits more of an air gap between the tub and the heat tape than the others do.

For a 10 bin rack I'd use 2 probes. 1 probe on the 3rd from the bottom and 1 probe on the 3rd from the top. The floor in my exotics room is cold, and for me I noticed a difference from top to bottom. If your floor is around the same as the temperature of the room, then 1 probe is likely fine.

My room has a cool temperature and I use 4 to run the rack. The top three hot spots on one, the bottom 2 on a second and I need secondary heat zone as well so 1 runs the bottom 3 secondary and the fourth is the top two.

The single system often needs two one for the rack and one for the room temp. This might be a reptile stat running an oil heater, the built in stat on the heater or a regular room one but two are typical.
