Since I received my new baby Mojave in the mail, I had him a couple of days before I actually just bought the probed thermometer with humidity reader on the unit. I bought two, one for either side of the tank. Come to find out those first few days I thought I had been fighting high humidity with moss and spraying like twice a day with foil covered top, I actually had humidity at like 65-68. Each side reads different, so unsure whether its true or one of them is off like the original one I had stuck on wall.

Anyways when I went to offer him food yesterday, I noticed he had actually shed mostly in his hide. He still had some pieces on him like he had a bad shed I think because I lowered the humidity back down. Since I was leaving him alone to be acclimated into his new home, I had no idea he was in shed to leave the humidity up that high. He stays in his cool side hide, and I have yet to see him go into the warm side. So Idk if that had an effect or not. But when I go to start handling him for first time this weekend, I might just do what I read on another post and let him soak if he needs it.

But my question is that when I had the humidity high and didn't realize it because my hygrometer was bad, can that actually cause them go into shed?

Good News is that even after he shed mostly, he still ate for me. Granted he explored his tank a lot like he was hungry because I gave him a hopper and I think I need a small adult mouse instead. But having him eat, made me super happy that he is settling in good enough to eat for me!
