Caulk safe around bp? (Mouse problem)

Recently noticed I have a mouse running around and found his hole in my wall to be in the same room as my BP. I wanted to get caulk to fill the hole but I don't know if that would be dangerous. I've never used the stuff before and someone I know told me it's fine but more opinions are appreciated. Thanks.

It is fine ........ If you use a silicone caulk, it may have a pretty strong odor.
Non silicone has much less odor. But a mouse can easily chew through caulk.
