Search the forum and see how much those that use them love them. They are awesome!
I have had my 4 for three trouble free years and some are used so they are even older. If you want a tstat that will last a Herpstat is the way to go.

Dunno. My oldest Herpstat is about 8 years old and, so far, still works. (Knock on wood now that I've said that.)

How long do herpstats last?
That's a very valid question considering how much the top of the line ones cost.

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

I still have my first Herpstats, they are 9 years old now and I have never had any issue with any of them.
So we are talking $15 or less for each year of use....sounds like a good investment to me so far

Alot better than the $30 I paid for a Hydrofarm that lasted 3 months.

Just like any electrical item, you can still get a lemon.

But you lower the odds when you go with the better quality.

My very first one, it worked for a couple hours and then the fuse blew on it (nothing wrong with the 75 watt lamp I had in it at the time). It wasn't easily replaceable so i had to send it back, but they shipped it back fixed it and sent it back to me at no cost. I bought that herpstat even before I knew what bp.net was and it is still working to this day.
