    may get a tub

So, I am going to Repticon in Charlotte on 28 Feb. There is a chance i may pick up a new ball python while there. If I do, I will either move my adult male to a tub and put the new snake in a tank, or put the new snake in the tub. I found this heat tape on amazon that is 11 inches wide and a 1 foot section. http://www.amazon.com/Flex-Watt-Heat...upplies_text_z and i was just wondering if it would be too big for a tub sized for an adult ball?

I am hoping to get some answers pretty quick, as I will need to order the tape, thermostat, and cords and have them here with enough time to get everything ready before bringing the snake home.

    thanks for any help!

I would stick the new guy into the tub, why bother your established snake? Unless you pick up a cool looking 3 gene animal that you want to show off, though they spent most of their time hiding anyway. LOL
What size tub are you thinking? 11" Flexwatt sounds awfully large if you were doing a 28q tub then 4" or 6" would be fine. You will need a thermostat for it our you will seriously injure or possibly kill your animal without it. I'll be spending Sunday the 1st there wandering the show and saying high to a few regulars I see at the Repticon shows. You can order THG heat tape from Reptile Basics and have them wire the power cord to it for you and you'll have it really quickly as they're in NC.
    Cheers, Jeff

    Re: may get a tub

thanks for the quick response. i am not sure what size tub i would get. i'm not quite able to picture size based on volume lol i'd have to go to the store and look at some. if that would be big enough for an adult, then i guess that is the size i would get. i just dont want to set up multiple tubs as the snake grows like i did the terrariums, though the tubs are definitely cheaper.

and thanks for the heads up on reptile basics being in NC. i'll be checking them out for sure.

Most adults are fine in 41 qt sterilite and Rubbermaid tubs. I plan on making some 70 qt racks for my big girls though. I like them to have a little room

I know a lot of guys who keep adult males in 28q tubs which measure 23" L x 16 1/4" W x 6" H, and their females in the 41 quart tubs which generally run about the same width and height but IIRC 35" long. I have 5 of mine currently in 28 quart tubs, 1 in a 6 quart tub, and the other 5 in 41 quart tubs.
    Cheers, Jeff
