    Hermit crab heater for snake?

For $19.99 I can get a heat pad and dual thermometer/hygrometer on Amazon. Says for hermit crabs and pad is only 4 watts, but could it worm for my tub?

I'm assuming this is what you're talking about: http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Hermit...it+crab+heater

The thermometer is crap and won't tell you the temp of the heat pad, you'll need one with a probe.
The heat pad doesn't say how big it is, but it's probably way to small for a BP.

I'd suggest buying one of these instead: http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-ReptiT...it+crab+heater
    Or even better: http://www.reptilebasics.com/ultratherm-heat-pads

and also buying one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-MTPR...ostat+heat+pad
    or even better: http://spyderrobotics.com/index.html

Heating an enclosure doesn't come super cheap, but can be life threatening if done incorrectly.

Edit: this is the thermo/hygro I recommend

Could you also tell me anything about heat tape? How does it hook up to a thermostat? How much do I need?

Heat tape is used for racks, or heating several enclosures very close to eachother. If you only have a few tubs, tanks, or plastic enclosures, heat pads are recommended.

I don't have any racks as I only have 4 snakes, so I can't tell you anything about how it hooks up.

Would a mini heat pad work?

Also I really appreciate the link to that thermo/hygro! Does it have a probe and secure way of mounting to the tub?

Yep, the probe is super long and has adhesive on one side.
It also measure the ambient temps.

And can I use any thermostat, or does it have to be reptile specific?

Any thermostat should work as long as your heat pad can plug into it.
Be careful about quality though, a bad thermostat can cause a life threatening situation.

Understood. So instead of hunting online, I can use one from Walmart so long as quality is good?
