    Awesome tub...right size?

So her current tub is 18 long by 12 wide by 12 deep and I found a tub that actually locks at Walmart for $7. 40.3qt and says nothing of dimensions except 20". Would this be a good size for her now and as an adult?

What matters is the floor space, the average tubs for adults are about 34 x 16 and 6 inches high.

This tubs will not work for an adult.

If you are looking for stand alone tubs that will last you a while but will work with a juvenile as well I would recommend

Sterilite latchable 32 quarts which can be found at target or rubbermaid 28 quarts which can be found in walmart.

She's a juvenile but I wanted her in a bigger tub

Walmart , target, Home Depot either 28, 32 or 41 quarts.

28 and 32 will last you for quite some time until your snake is 1500/1800 grams.

I've been wondering about floor space. The average tub used in racks is about 36x16 = 576 inches of floor space. I read the how to set up a 20L, and if i remember right it said something about most or allot of balls could use this size their entire life. A 20L is 30x12 = 360inches of floor space. I ordered a showcase cage that is 24x16=384inches of floor space. Please correct me if I'm figuring this wrong.

So theoretically my 24x12 cage should last their life time. How do i tell if/when the snake needs a bigger one ?

24x12 is not large enough for an adult.

I'm not sure where you heard a 20 would last their entire life, I had always been told an adult ball python should be kept in a 40 or equivalent tub or pvc enclosure. I had my igger normal male in a 20 when he was about 600g and it was a tight fit, can't imagine keeping a 1500g+ snake in that size tank.

Thank you both. . I can't find where I read that or thought I read that. Sounds like I'm going to be stuck with a cage that will be to small within the year.

Don't get stuck with a cage, buy another hatchling next year!
