Stuck eye cap question.
I'll try to make this as short as possible. Adopted a ball from a friend. Friend's daughter, I guess, has been taking care of him. He has what I believe are stuck eye caps from his last shed. I was wondering if the eye caps will come off next shed or if I should try to take them off myself. At least I hope that they are just stuck caps because my girl has never had stuck eye caps or bad sheds so I'm hoping this is all it is. The new guy is 8 years old. He doesn't really seem like he can see too well or something but he doesn't ball up like he is scared. I just finished spending all day setting him up in his tank so now I need to figure out this eye situation.

Also, I will try to post pics soon. I tried snapping one earlier but my camera on my phone would just not focus close enough on the eye so it would come out clear.

Another thing with him I have noticed is that he moves slower than normal. He also will stay in the position I put him down in for a long time...don't know if that's anything to be concerned about

Are the eye caps really bad? Are the eyes dented in? Does it look like more than one layer of stuck eye caps? If it's just one layer/not very noticeable it's probably fine, but you can still try to soak the snake and see if that helps.

Yeah they are dented in. I can't really tell how many layers there are if there even are more than one. They are pretty noticeable though

I seen a tutorial on removing stuck eye caps with a spray bottle using water. I thought is was a little unorthodox and possibly very stressful to the snake. But it worked. You could try to google it, and see what you think. I only had it happen with a rainbow once, and just waited to the next shed. But not sure what I would do if I wasn't sure of the snakes history.

Re: Stuck eye cap question.
If his eyes are dented in then it sounds like he's dehydrated. I would keep his humidity higher than normal until his next shed, and see if they don't come off then. He may also remove them himself before his next shed once he rehydrates.

I would do some nice soaks and also boost tank humidity

Re: Stuck eye cap question.
Here is the best pic I could get. Both eyes are like this. I have kept humidity pretty high since yesterday and he seemed a little more active when I just picked him up to check on him and snap the pics. I probably will do a soak later or tomorrow to see how that does.

Re: Stuck eye cap question.
Well just as an update, he has started wheezing and after trying vaseline and the water bottle tricks, I have only been able to move the eye caps a little so he will be seeing the vet today. Thanks for all the help guys, but this one is out of my hands right now, I tried everything I could but hopefully if I ever run into this situation again I will be able to handle it myself.
