i purchased casper, a full grown male ghost bp from the new york reptile expo in september of 2014,
he has some interesting markings and colouration, which is what caught my eye.
though as i do more reading about scale rot, obviously im getting a bit nervous.
his belly scales are perfectly white, but on his back along his spine (over most of his body) he has a line of darker coloured scales.
though upon close inspection the darker colour doesnt cover the entire scale, just the top.
these scales do stay after he sheds, and dont seem to change in pattern, colour, or size.
(also, he is kept on newspaper, with humidity at 55-60% and a hotspot of 85, cool spot of 75)
also, i noticed he has four scales that really bother me, it looks like he might have rubbed them on something (im thinking maybe of the edge of his hide or something of the like), and then they started to scab over
im pretty sure they arent burns, because there's no way for him to come into contact with anything hot enough to hurt him.
he doesnt currently have a uth, because it burned out about a week ago, so im working on saving up for a new one.
the scales look like they've already scabbed over and im wondering if i should just let them be; as he's getting ready to shed.
or if i should put a dab of neosporin on the them (without the pain killer additive)?
thank you for any and all help!!
i just need a bit of reassurance here!![]()
