    Excited!!

    Hey everyone,

I guess I have to start with a little background story first.

An couple of years ago 2 guys that I know saw a Mystic male that was just better looking then any other mystic they had seen.
After growing the little guy up he was bred to multiple females and in every clutch there where some hatchlings that where just different to what they where supposed to be.

I could be mentioning all the pairings but to make an long story somewhat shorter I won't name all the pairings they did with this male, but I have seen some of the offspring this Mystic male fathered and the extra gene in this Mystic male was really altering the looks of some of his offspring. I will now get into the little guy I am excited about.

Since most of the offspring that was different from what they should be where brighter and cleaner, they thought it maybe was Vanilla in the Mystic.

With that in mind they decided to breed the Mystic male to their Super Fire female, cause if it was Vanilla they should get some Vanilla Creams, but that didn't happen.

Instead of getting vanilla Cream's they got some Fire's and a Mystic Fire and 3 Fire's that where completely different. They called the new gene Cardamon.

I will now post some pic's of the little guy that I am so excited about to have.

Here is first an picture of my Cardamon Fire next to a regular fire clutch mate (taken by the breeder).

(Cardamon Fire on the left and Fire on the right)

and now some photo's I made this morning after he shed last night. Photo's where made in front of a window no flash or other lights where used.

Now don't get me wrong if I didn't know these guys I probably would not have believed there was Fire in this guy and I would have been very sceptical about the whole new gene thing.

Unfortunately the 2 guys who started working with this new gene where not able yet to single out the Cardamon gene and I hope they succeed in that this breeding season or that I will do it in the 2015/2016 season. There also has to been seen if there is a super form yet but they didn't have a female with the cardamon gene at breeding size yet, but they will try it late this breeding season or else in the 2015/2016 season (depending on the female's size ofcourse).

Thanks for looking and let me know what you think.

it'd be awesome to get in on the ground floor of a new gene

i myself am trying to do something with the yoda gene

no one has yet bred a super yoda, if a super form of the gene exists, which i hope it does

try your cardamon with a YB and see what happens

    hey thanks,

Yellow Belly might actually be a good idea but I decided to first breed him to my orange Ghost female in a attempt to get an animal that visually only shows the cardamon gene, and as a bonus all the young will be het. Orange Ghost haha.

Why wouldn't you think it was a fire?
Looks exactly like a fire to me. Honestly I've seen many fires that looked quite similar. Great looking fire none the less.

if you look at the first pic you can clearly see the difference between the Cardamon Fire and the Fire.

The Cardamon Fire doesn't look like a regular Fire at all.

Unless I read wrong, they disproved the "extra" gene being vanilla or fire by breeding the male to a super fire female and producing neither creams nor leucistics. Not 100% proof but, depending on clutch size, close enough for some folks. All of the hatchlings from pairing the mystic "extra" to the super fire are carrying fire gene from the dam so you should see fire in the hatchlings.

I still think it looks like a granite fire. Any pictures of the founding mystic?

after seeing the offspring of the other females he has been with I am sure it isn't granite, take a look at the Brimstone (Fire Granite) on WoB http://www.worldofballpythons.com/morphs/brimstone/
it really looks nothing like that.

Also in some photo's when you take a good look at the first 1/4 of his body you can see where normally the eyes in the alien heads are. if you look good at that it seems there is some kind of blushing orso in those "eyes".

No I do not have an pic of the founding Mystic, but if I had I couldn't post it as they want to wait with mystic and the other combo's they have until they have an animal with only the cardamon gene and have tried for a super form.

they where ok with me posting this male I have as it is mine but they don't want me to post pictures of their animals and i can understand that.
