    JCP died tonight

My 15yr old 7-8 ft JCP died after constricting a rat. I gave him the rat and left him alone and within a 30 min time frame my wife noticed him laying weird. He wasn't moving or breathing. I don't know what happened. He was fine. He's been kept in an animal plastics cage since I got him in 03. This is horrible. He's never had a health problem. Anybody just have a snake this long and for it to just die. Heartbreaking. Nicest snake ever, never struck.

    Wow that sucks!

Sorry to hear this news. It is a good run at 15 years but I know they go much longer.

I'm so sorry. Are you going to have a necropsy done to see what happened?

    Exclamation Re: JCP died tonight

OH GOODNESS that's awful ;( ;( I'm so so so sorry..... Sounds like it was a wonderful snake!

It's not a JCP or CP of any type but I recently had a northern pine snake pass without warning, at around 9 years old. Seemed early. I quickly made the call to get a necropsy and many people helped me find someone to do it...

I just wanted to make SURE it wasn't something I did or didn't do... In the end they couldn't find anything at all, so I guess that answers the question? It might seem "creepy" to some but I suggest having it done. If you go this route you'll want to ensure it's kept cool until then. Just what i was told.

    Sorry for your loss friend...

    Re: JCP died tonight

Y'all not going to believe this but he came back to life. He was dead for a good hour. We started massaging him and put a straw down his wind pipe and gave him CPR in a way. After about 30 min his tail started twitching. We continued this for about another hour and he started to take deep breaths. This is incredible. I wish i had a video of this cause I know it's unbelievable. By midnight he was totally coherent and moving around like nothing happened. We are taking him to a reptile vet right now. This was a straight miracle. I mean he was dead. Inside of his mouth was black and blue. When he started coming back it was normal pink color. He even bit my wife in the leg. Omg I almost put him in the freezer. Was planning a necropsy. I'm mean he's totally normal right now. My whole family is in shock at what we witnesses. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
