my ball python has had 2 sheds sincei had her, the first was a perfect 1 piece shed, the 2nd, heh i wish i was as lucky as the fist time, it was a disaster, flakes everywere, the worst was that she had a ring from behind her head to about a quarter of her body of unshed skin, and little patches further down, i soaked her in semi warm water(not too warm) to try and help well it did, however there are STILL little spots here and there that i've tried to get rid of but no luck, what are some good preps before shed? how can i help my BP shed in one piece? can i? should i just leave her alone? any help appreciated, and please, do help.

    huimidty humidty humidty

what kind of encloser are you using. There are many different ways you can prep the snake for sheding.?

I like to mist the tank. There was a great idea broguht up a few days ago about glad press and sticks( soemthing like that ?) So you can put that over one side of the tank to increase humidty, however make sure you have a air flow. You could also get a bigger water bowl. Big water bowls always help

Another idea is to give him a bath ( much like you did, with luke warm water) this losens the skin a bit.

You also could make what is called a Humidty hide. I have one, I painted it black so it absorbs the heat and have damp paper towel in there. I find it works great.

Heres a link to help you with that.

So try some or all of these ideas and should result in a good shed.
    Have fun

Very nice, but you may need to make another hide. I may be incorrect on this one, so correct me if im wrong, but the half cut log dontt give alot of secruity like a full coverd hide would.
You dont need to get a expensive one . Once again here is a link that can help you with that.

I would suggest misting your tank, putting a half garbage bag ( or the glad things ) over half, and that should increase the humidty which results in a good shed. you can even try out a humid hide. That will help you too

    Hope this helps,

    Chris

Yep, two good, snug hides and a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer-hygrometer would certainly help that enclosure, as would a humid hide or other humidity-booster. Proper humidity and temps are key to good sheds.
