    First Attempt, Good Lock?

This is my first time trying to breed. I paired up my 700g Pastel Yellowbelly Male with my 1650g Normal Female. I'm sure they have been locking up. I've seen at least 5 good locks in the past 3 days. I'm following the 3 day on and 3 day off schedule, both of them are still eating so all is well. Out of all the locks I witnessed, this is the only picture that I could get. What do you think?

    Re: First Attempt, Good Lock?

A bit hard to see. Can't count it unless you see them lock up. I would consider a good lock 8+ hours. Following the three day on off rule, when you see them lock, you separate for three days right after they unlock, not leave him in for the remaining time. Also when pairing one male and one female, one good lock a month is enough, I personally do 2 but that's just extra insurance. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice kylearmbar! I did notice they locked up at least 5 times, the longest being 12+ hours. Next time I will remove afterwards.

I did notice that when I took the male out he was all twiching, and they both looked very hungry. They seemed upset I was removing them from each other haha.

Your welcome, and yes most people do attempt to feed after they lock. Some males won't eat though because of interest in other things.

Two weeks have gone by since I paired her, and from the research I've done, she is showing signs of ovulation.

She is keeping to the cooler ends of the tub, Wrapping around and going in the water bowl. For the past 2 days I have seen her keeping the mid part of her body completely straight; and from the mid section to the tail, she has been belly up.

Check out this pic. As soon as I opened the tub, she began to turn her body back to normal, but when I lifted her hide she was all belly up.
