    Plastic Tub Question

I have a question about housing a baby ball in a plastic tub. This is pretty much my first ball so I want to make sure I'm doing this right. For a baby male, would it be ok to house it in a juvenile or adult sized tub with plenty of hides? I know some people use 6quarts for their baby snakes but since I'm using a UTH and not heat tape, I was wondering is a bigger tub ok?

    Re: Plastic Tub Question

Yeah you would have to make sure it's cluttered up with lots of stuff. Extra hides, possibly rocks, branches, crumpled up paper, that sort of thing. Of note: if your getting the things from outside, make sure you cure them first to prevent any unwanted bugs, bacteria, or fungi from getting into your enclosure.

Depends on the animal some will be ok some won't, for the best transition (especially for a new owner that is learning) I always recommend that housing mimic the one previously provided by the breeder, in other words for a very young hatchlings a 6 quarts tub.

Once the animal eats with consistency, and has transitioned well you can upgrade.

Thank you and no, I'm not getting the stuff from outside. Way too risky for me.

Yes, I've run juveniles in 41-qt tubs before without any issues. Just make sure there's a ton of stuff in it to clutter it up - plastic hides and fake viney plants, loosely balled up newspaper, or even a thick layer of aspen or cypress mulch in one area that he can burrow under.
