Keeping Moss Damp

So I added some moss to the hide of my Ball Python and it help TREMENDOUSLY with humidity. He is pooping and shedding much better now. However, the moss only stays damp for about 2 days. I have a fogger that runs for 15 minutes once a day but that only helps with humidity outside of the hide. Does anyone know a good trick to keeping the moss damp? I was hoping for an easier way other than taking it out and dampening it every day or two. But if thats what it takes I don't mind too much. Just curious if anyone knew a trick or something.

so when you say you added moss to the hide what do you mean? Are you just putting a little bit just balled up underneath his hide? might be a noobie question im just wanting to try new things!

I just take a clump and put in the hide. Nothing really special about it.

It also works well if your hide it a little to large for the snake since you can make the hide feel smaller and more secure by adding it inside.

Not really a ball. I just soak some moss in water for no more than 5 minutes, then place it between two towels until heavily damp (not soaking or dripping) then I place it in the hide and hold my snake for a while. Because the water makes the moss cold and I want it to warm up on the UTH. Then I just place the hide ontop of the moss (hide doesn't have a bottom) and the snake moves around the moss, pushes it to the sides, and flattens it to his comfort.

When I place fresh moss in my cages I will use a glass and get water in the range of 75-80F and submerge the moss in it. I then pull the moss out of the glass and give it a light squeeze before placing it in the hides.

If the moss is already in the cage I simply bring the glass to the tank and either dip it to soak it or just pour it on the moss. I have live plants and cypress so I regularly pour water in the cage to water the plants.

I don't remove the snake for any of this.

KMG I might have asked you before, but could you post a pic or two of your setup? Ive always been curious of live plants in the cage.

These are just a few I had in Photobucket. Some are not very recent. I put the plants in and then once they get to big I will move them to another cage that they work better in or just remove them and replace them with new young ones to start the process over.

How do you "deep clean" the cages when it comes time? Do you take them out and replant them every time?

Yea, its not as hard as it sounds.

During a deep clean I place them in a tub with about a inch of water to let them soak up some water in the pot. I then rinse and wash the leaves and place them back in the cage when Im ready.

I get them from my local Petco and they are in a little pot with a sponge like material. The pot is slotted and the roots grow out into the substrate. A few times I have removed them from the pots and either way works but leaving them in the pot seems to help them sit in the substrate better especially when the snake decides to root around.
