Changed Mouse Supplier; Changes in Feeding habits
He used to be a weekly eater. Went from 2 smaller mice per week to one large one. He's kind of slowed down during the winter, but I bought a bunch of mice from Big Cheese Rodent Factory and I tried feeding him with their mice, and he won't take. He looks interested and gets close enough to smell it, but then he backs away and goes back into his hide. (Same reaction when I tried to feed him rats lol) They smell a little different than the normal ones I usually get for him, so I was wondering if that was the issue. I bought kind of a lot of mice, and I'm not exactly keen on throwing them all out so, I was wondering if anyone else had this problem?

Re: Changed Mouse Supplier; Changes in Feeding habits
I am using Big Cheese products right now and it's hard to say what it is this time of year. I have some that have gone off and others that haven't. This is just the time they go off feed and so while it could be the snake is reacting to a different scented food item, it could just as easily be the coincidental timing of the season. Welcome to wonder and enigma that is BP ownership.

Mm yeah, this is the first winter I've had my snake, and I've noticed him slowing down anyways so I wasn't sure if it was the change of supplier or something.

Hey, you're in WA, have you tried Glacier Rodents at all? Figured I'd ask and see what anyone's experience is with them. I'm interested since they're local and that would save a ton on shipping.

I use Big Cheese as well. I think it's more the season than the feeders. 2 of my 4 snakes have really slowed down too.

My Ginger is a little over 1 year, and stopped eating completely once the cold weather began in October. Everyone tells me that it's normal, so I just need to bear it. Maybe that's what's happened to your snake too.

Thanks for the replies! I was just wondering if it just happened to be coincidental that I changed feeders at the same time he decided to go into winter mode. Judging from his behavior, I'm probably presuming it's that.
Lizardlicks, I've actually never tried them. The previous supplier was Northwest Zoological, and they sold their mice through pet stores and all. Before that, I knew someone who bred mice so I got them from her.

Well good to know. Guess I'll try them and report back with my findings!
