Hi everyone! I am new to the world of ball python breeding. We have had our albino boy, Twinkie for over a year now and I recently became interested in becoming a hobby breeder. I breed sugar gliders and enjoy every minute of it so while I am not new to breeding, snakes are definitely not sugar gliders! Lol. I am lucky to have a mentor close by that has been in the hobby since before I was born and I am also reading as much as I can on the forums. I thought I would share what I have so far and would welcome any input/suggestions if you have any.
As far as housing goes, I have three racks on the way from Dragons4you.com. A V18 Hatchling Rack 18 tub, a combo rack with 8-15 qt tubs and 1-32 qt, and a 41 qt 3 level rack all with belly heat. I know I will need more racks eventually, but hopefully this will get me started. I also have a herpstat 4 and a hydrofarm thermostat, and a home made incubator (from my mentor). I have soaking/water bowls and hides for each of my tubs and plan to use cypress mulch for the substrate.
I have also ordered a large supply of feeders from Rodent Pro and my mentor is looking into a local source as well which would be great. Now for the snakes, I may have gotten carried away, lol. I adore just about every one I see! My list is as follows:
2014 babies
0.1 High White Pied
0.1 Killer Bee Fire
0.1 Calider
0.1 White Diamond
0.1 Champagne Coral Glow
0.1 Killer Bee Calico
0.1 Cinnamon Enchi
1.0 Pastel Ivory
1.0 Banana Woma
1.0 Yellow belly Pinstripe
1.0 Spied
2013 yearlings
0.1 Yellow belly
1.0 Albino
Adults
0.1 Bumblebee (bred)
0.1 Albino Het
0.1 Normal
So all in all, 11 females and 5 males. I have some pairings in mind already but if you see anything that could make some really nice offspring don't hesitate to say so!
Anyway, thank you all for the chance to say hi and I look forward to continuing to learn, meeting new interesting people and enjoying my new passion.
