    Heating question

I just acquired 2 melamine enclosures. They both have melamine floors with the only glass being in the front. The large one has a circle cut out of the top with screen for a lamp. The smaller one has a light fixture mounted inside of it. Would the best way to heat these be from heat lamps from above? I've thought about maybe suspending a plexiglass floor in the bottom so I could put an under tank heater and thermostat in. Would this be unnessessary? Would strickly heating from lamps at the top dry out my humidity?

    Re: Heating question

Lamps are notorious for killing humidity. I'd try to cover those up and use either the UTH or a radiant heat panel.

For my wood cages, i have cut out a square on the ground, covered it with plexi glass and mounted the UTH on the outside section of plexi. Works great.

    Re: Heating question

yeah, I've decided to build a very shallow box that will fit as a second floor with a plexiglass surface for the UTH. I do think I'm going to still use the light fixture for a night-time bulb or black light. I just have to find or fabricate a mesh frame to go around it to keep my snake from burning himself on the bulb
