    Help with BP skin condition

    Hi guys,

This is my first post here, asking for help with my first ball python.

In the three weeks since her last shed (the first one I was around for), she's had a region of patchy white blotches in her coat. It seems to me that the area is getting bigger, and it now covers about 4 inches on one side. Recently, it's started feeling dry and scratchy in a couple places and today she lost a scale off her back. I've started rubbing Neosporin on the spot but I just started today so no telling yet how it's helping.

She has a large tank with a hot spot, hides that she uses, and bowls with water. I'm seeing the signs of mites with her as well (frequent bathing, potential mites in water) but besides that she seems normally alert and active, and she's eating without any difficulty. I think that maybe part of the problem may stem from the fact that I may not have been replacing my substrate and cleaning the tank frequently enough.

Sorry for the long question. I'm a first-time snake owner just trying to do right by his pet, and I feel like everything's going wrong at once. I'm worried about the white skin. I'll add pics later.

Here are a couple pictures. In the first one, you can kind of see the affected region (those horizontal white/grey stripes). The second picture is a closer view of the more damaged skin.

Another factor might be humidity. I'm doing my best to keep it around 70% but I'm still getting my setup in order and there have been week stretches where the humidity's been closer to 50% or even 40%. It's bad I know, but I'm working on it.
