Sugars...
So I have hatched a new master plan for hobby breeding which involves a female pastel and a male sugar. I have fallen in love with pictures I have seen of pastel sugars, and it seems like the expense would be within "hobby" range rather than "second job" range. North Dakota doesn't really have a hopping ball python market, but I will eventually be moving to Michigan. I would love to buy from a local breeder, but I would also be willing to purchase online from a reputable breeder. Do you guys have any suggestions for breeders that are currently working with sugars? I like a cleaner look with a lot of white.

Re: Sugars...
Caliders (calico spiders) are just incredible. Sugar is a line of calico, I'm not sure what the difference is. But the mix of the white from the spider gene and the calico makes the coloration just pop.

Re: Sugars...
You'll find people who prefer calicos and people who prefer sugars. I'm a sugar girl, myself
Agreed, pastel sugars are amazing looking animals! Most of the breeders that sell on this site are reputable. If you jump into the Inquiries/Feedback forum here, you'll find another great resource for good sellers/buyers. I do most of my business online (or did, anyway) and only had a problem once. It's like anything else - if something's too good to be true, it usually is false.

Sammie, I completely agree! But I have a mental block when it comes to breeding an animal with a known genetic defect. I just can't wrap my head around it...

Rob, I think she's talking about spider wobble. I totally agree, and I hate that they can have it, but way more often than not, it doesn't really have any negative impact on the animals life.

That's what I figured. I don't consider it a defect at all. They feed breed and thrive just the same as any other morph. If anything a little "wobble" gives them a little extra personality.

Yeah, I know a lot of people feel the same. I admittedly have a tendency to anthropomorphize, and so I imagine that spiders and I experience "the spins" in the same way. I'm certainly not judging anyone that breeds spiders; I just know that I would be on constant guard, worrying and empathizing with my poor wittle baby wobblekins.

Re: Sugars...
If you want to breed pastels spend the extra money and get a super pastel. That way you won't get any normals and LLL reptiles has super pastels for a hundred dollars.
